DWI Court TeamThe DWI Court programs for the Harbor Justice Center and the West Justice Center in Orange County are programs seeking to treat and redirect hard-core, repeat, impaired drivers through a comprehensive court-directed program of testing, supervision and treatment.

This voluntary post-conviction program provides participants regular and random testing, intensive probation supervision and treatment by trained professionals for their substance abuse issues.

In addition to sobriety, the DWI Court program emphasizes rebuilding family ties, maintaining employment and a stable living environment, and pursuing educational goals. The program is a partnership that includes the Orange County Superior Court, the Orange County Probation Department, the Orange County Health Care Agency, the Orange County Public Defender's Office, the Orange County District Attorney's Office, community groups including MADD, and local law enforcement agencies, including the Orange County Sheriff's Department, and all of the local law enforcement agencies serviced by the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach and the West Justice in Westminister.

The program has four phases, and requires a minimum of 12 month to complete the program which includes:

  • intensive supervision by the OC Probation Department
  • individual and group counseling provided by the OC Health Care Agency
  • regular sobriety meetings (12 step meetings)
  • regular and random drug and alcohol testing
  • regular team meetings including judicial oversight
  • regular progress reviews before the DWI Court Judge
